A Federal High Court in Abuja on the 29th October 2024, revived the treasonous charges levied against 119 Nigerians including the newly detained ones since August 2024 for taking part in the nationwide public demonstration #EndBadGovernance.
This was pronounced by Obiora Egwuatu, the presiding judge, who struck out the case following an application by M.D Abubakar, counsel to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
At the session on 29th October 2024, Marshal Abubakar opted to take over and discontinue the suit. He also pleaded the court to hand over the charge to the AFG.

A total number of 24 children were said to be granted bail after the Attorney General of the Federation, Justice Obiora Egwuatu exercised his constitutional rights to discontinue the treasonous case initiated by the Nigerian Police. Although, about 20 of them had been hospitalised at an undisclosed hospital, sources told zarapresh on Friday night.

President Bola Tinubu on Monday directed the Attorney-General of the Federation to ensure the immediate release of the minors detained by the Nigeria Police in connection to last August’s protests without prejudice to any ongoing legal processes.
The underage children were said to be arrainged before the Federal High Court on Friday, November 1, following national and international outrage and condemnation by the public.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, pronounced the development to State House correspondents during an emergency briefing at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

He said, “The second step, which is an urgent step, which the government must take is the issue of rehabilitation and education of these young persons. Under Section 18 of the constitution, the government owes the duty to educate these young persons. Under Section 2 of the UBEC ACT and several other international treaties, these young persons must be educated by the government. Free of charge.
