About Carleton University

Carleton University is an English-language public research university in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1942 as Carleton College, the institution originally operated as a private, non-denominational evening college to serve returning World War II veterans.[4] Carleton was chartered as a university by the provincial government in 1952 through The Carleton University Act, which was then amended in 1957, giving the institution its current name.

Carleton University Gordon Robertson National Inuit Scholarship

Awarded annually to one or two undergraduate or graduate students from an Inuit community. Eligible recipients will be either entering or proceeding from one year to the next in a program at Carleton University. The Vice-Provost of Graduate Studies will award to selected graduate recipients. Preference will be given to Inuit students undertaking scholarly or research work of benefit, either in the present or the future, to Inuit communities in the Canadian Arctic (Nunavut) and including Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories and Quebec.

Requirements for Carleton University Gordon Robertson National Inuit Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student proceeding from one year to another in an academic program at Carleton University
  • Applicant must be enrolled full time
  • Applicant must be in good academic standing
  • Preference will be given to Inuit students undertaking scholarly or research work of benefit, either in the present or the future, to Inuit communities in the Canadian Arctic (Nunavut) and including Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories and Quebec.

How to Apply

Instructions

  • Provide one (1) letter of academic recommendation. The letter should show clear support of how you are an excellent candidate for the Gordon Robertson National Inuit Scholarship. Be sure to choose a person from one of the following sources: A professor who has taught a class you successfully completed, thesis advisor, graduate supervisor, dean of a faculty, a director of a school or institute, or a chair of a department/program. They must write a letter that will speak to your experiences meeting the specific eligibility criteria as well as the ways in which you exemplify the values of this award
  • Complete the entire form and submit all documents directly to Awards and Financial Aid: awards@carleton.ca
  • Late or incomplete applications will not receive consideration
